You've written a first draft or full outline, congratulations! Now how do you improve the structure, dialogue and comedy? In this eight-week class, we'll learn how to properly evaluate and revise an existing script. We'll explore...
• How to improve structure without losing heart of the characters, comedy or tone.
• How to explore what already exists in your script (and what clues it's giving you about story and character), rather than simply inventing or shoehorning ideas.
• How to constructively and effectively "kill your darlings" without killing the very thing that inspired you to write the story in the first place!
We'll also use classroom readings and feedback to not only explore the students script but also discuss how to "accept notes on your script", how to "give notes on someone else's script" and, most importantly, how to discover what "the note behind the note" is.
